Licensed Physician and Licensed Attorney
Brian H. Tew, M.D., J.D.
I have represented physicians and other healthcare professionals in Licensing and Disciplinary matters for more than 20 years. I have 40 years of active licensure in medicine and 25 years of active licensure in law. Over this time, I have also witnessed a more aggressive and punitive attitude in Austin, Texas and throughout the nation. When your professional license is at stake, do not be lulled into thinking that the complaint has no merit, therefore it will be dismissed. That is no longer the case.
Today, a complaint that leads to a disciplinary order may drastically reduce your ability to practice and earn a living. Providers appear to be looking for reasons to throw professionals off of plans and some have seen their practices reduced by half or more, when this happens.
If you have received notification of a complaint, you must speak with an experienced and seasoned medical board defense lawyer such as myself. I will start defending you right away. I do not charge for the initial time it takes to discuss and understand your case and I will never nickel and dime. Your future and reputation matters too much.

Honest. Ethical. Dependable.
When I represent you, I represent only you and not a third party paying the bill. When you hire the Tew Law Firm, you will be represented zealously and honestly. I do not promise impossible results to sign up clients; I give you my honest opinion and appraisal of your situation. Unfortunately, some clients have hired me after they have already spent a fortune on a poorly conceived defense.
I have spent the past two decades fighting for medical professionals in hearings, trials, and appeals.
I have the expertise that you require and I have the wholehearted commitment you that you deserve.
As a physician, I understand the financial and emotional stress that accompanies these complaints. The practice of medicine, no matter what discipline, is intensely personal and most medical professionals have devoted a large part of their life to studying, training, and practicing.
Work With a Reputable and Seasoned Trial Attorney
I have been licensed to practice medicine in Texas since 1978 and to practice law in Texas since 1992. In addition to representing physicians and nurses in disciplinary matters, I am also a trained mediator and have mediated a number of medical staff disputes involving physicians and hospitals. As a trial lawyer, I have been lead counsel in many cases involving complex personal injury, traumatic brain injuries, defective medical products and medical malpractice in Texas, Georgia, Arkansas, and Florida. I have successfully tried cases involving individuals who have been seriously injured by dangerous chemical and asbestos exposure, defective pharmaceuticals/drugs and defective medical devices.
Using my combined scientific, medical and legal training, I know how to discredit dishonest expert witnesses whose opinions wander away from accepted medicine and science methodology. I talk to juries about medicine the way I talked to my patients; I use plain clearly understood language. On a number of occasions, with just a few days of notice, I have come into court and successfully cross-examined expert witnesses I have never before seen. This provided the winning tipping point.

I have unmatched experience as a trial attorney and have faced some exceptional adversaries, however, it is my thoroughness and meticulous attention to detail that sets me apart from many of the others. I prepare a case with the same thoroughness that I used to diagnose and treat patients. When I represent you, I am never unprepared. I am ready to protect your interests to the fullest extent.

I was co-director of emergency services at a Houston hospital where I practiced emergency medicine. After several years I also opened a general practice in Sugar Land Texas and practiced both emergency medicine and general medicine before becoming an attorney. I have been licensed to practice medicine for 41 years and licensed to practice law for 26 years.
I began my legal practice defending medical professionals and later transitioned into pharmaceutical litigation and traumatic brain injury litigation. I have tried complex cases involving traumatic brain injuries, toxic chemical exposure, medical malpractice, on both sides of the docket, in both state and federal courts in Texas, Arkansas, Georgia and Florida. For many years I have defended physicians’ and other medical professionals’ licenses in Texas and New Mexico. I have also represented plaintiffs in certain medical malpractice cases where the healthcare providers’ negligence was truly inexcusable and egregious.
I specialize in cross examining scientific expert witnesses who stray from scientific principles when testifying. I enjoy hog tying dishonest experts forcing them to contradict themselves and admit to their errors. On occasion my cross examinations have been case determinative and at least one expert witness, as I cross examined him, expressed the desire to be anywhere other than in that courtroom sitting in the witness chair.
Seminars and Presentations
I have provided seminars on various medical and legal topics to organizations which include the American Association of Justice, the Southern Trial Lawyers, and Medical Schools.
